Medical weight management
A clinician-led programme built around a full assessment, a written plan and a monthly review with the same clinician. What you are paying for is the clinical oversight — medication is one option within that, and it is never guaranteed.

The programme
What it involves
A full clinical assessment, a written plan, and a monthly review with the same clinician — for as long as the programme runs, and through the maintenance phase after it.
The assessment takes 45 minutes and covers your medical history, every medicine and supplement you take, your measurements, your blood pressure and what you have tried before. That last part matters more than most patients expect: what has already failed, and how it failed, shapes the plan more than any starting number does.
Nothing is prescribed or planned before that assessment has been done. You then receive a plan in writing, and it is adjusted month by month based on how you actually respond rather than on how you were expected to.
The plan covers nutrition, activity and the practical habits around both, alongside medication where that is clinically appropriate. It includes a maintenance phase from the outset rather than as an afterthought, because how a programme ends determines whether anything gained during it holds.
Assessment and reviews take place in London or by video consultation. The programme is UK only: medication is dispensed by our UK pharmacy partner, which supplies UK addresses and does not ship overseas, so it cannot run from the Marbella clinic.
Comparing services
What to ask, and the answer here
Weight management is sold in a lot of forms, and the differences between them are not always visible from a homepage. These are the questions worth putting to any service, including this one.
| What to ask | The answer at this clinic |
|---|---|
| Who assesses me, and who prescribes? | The same person, in the same appointment. Kim carries out every assessment and review personally. |
| Do I have to buy a package up front? | No. There are no packages and no advance commitment. You pay per appointment. |
| Is the price I am quoted the whole price? | You are given the full expected cost at assessment, including what is charged separately, before you start. |
| What happens if medication is not appropriate for me? | The programme continues without it. It is not the product being sold. |
| How often am I actually seen by a clinician? | Every month, for as long as the programme runs. |
| What happens when I stop? | A maintenance phase, planned from the first appointment rather than offered at the end. |
| Can I speak to someone between appointments? | Yes, to Kim directly, if something changes or concerns you. |
None of the above is a claim about any other provider. It is a list of the questions this clinic thinks you should be asking, with our own answers to them.

What you get for the fee
Stated in full so that the monthly figure can be compared with what other clinics include for theirs.

Eligibility
Am I eligible?
Eligibility depends on your measurements, including BMI, your medical history, any weight-related health conditions, the medicines you take and a full clinical assessment. National guidance sets thresholds for when weight management medication is appropriate, and we work within them.
The programme may suit you if
- You have tried to lose weight before and found it difficult to maintain
- Your weight is affecting your health or your day-to-day life
- You would like clinical oversight rather than a plan bought off a website
- You are able to engage with a programme running over several months
- You want the same clinician each month rather than whoever is available
It may not be suitable if
- You are pregnant, breastfeeding or planning a pregnancy
- You have a current or previous eating disorder
- Certain conditions or medicines make it unsafe for you
- You are looking for a prescription rather than a programme
- Your clinical picture does not indicate that this is the right intervention
Some patients are told the programme is not appropriate for them. Where that happens Kim will explain why and, where possible, what would be more suitable — including where that is somewhere other than this clinic.
Month by month
How the programme works
- 1
Assessment
45 minutes covering history, medicines, measurements and blood pressure, with blood tests where indicated. This is also where you are told whether the programme is appropriate for you at all.
- 2
Your plan
Written and specific, with the full expected cost stated before you commit. You do not have to decide on the day, and there is no follow-up sales call.
- 3
Monthly review
Response, tolerance, side effects, measurements and adjustment — with the same clinician each time, so nothing has to be re-explained from the start.
- 4
Maintenance
How the programme steps down, what changes and what support continues. Costs usually reduce as review frequency reduces, although they do not drop to zero immediately.
A prescription is never guaranteed. Many patients on this programme are supported without medication at all.

Medication
Where medication fits in
Some patients on this programme are prescribed medication and some are not. That is a clinical decision made after assessment, not a product you are buying in advance — and it is the single most important difference between this and a service where the medicine is the offer.
Where medication is clinically appropriate it is explained in full: how it works, the benefit you can reasonably expect, the side effects, the monitoring involved and what happens when it stops. It is prescribed only within a monitored programme with monthly review, and it is charged separately by the dispensing pharmacy at that pharmacy's own price.
Where it is not appropriate, you are told why. The programme continues without it, because the assessment, the plan, the monthly review and the maintenance phase are the programme. Kim will also decline to continue prescribing where a patient is not attending the reviews that make it safe.
What happens when the programme ends
What it costs across the UK- 01
It is planned from day one
Maintenance is discussed at your first appointment, not raised once the active programme is finishing. Weight regain after stopping is common and well documented, and a plan that ignores it is not a plan.
- 02
The programme steps down
Review frequency reduces rather than stopping abruptly, so changes are noticed early enough to respond to. What is being monitored changes too, and Kim will tell you what to watch for yourself.
- 03
Costs reduce with it
Fewer reviews cost less. They do not drop to zero immediately, and you will be told what the maintenance phase costs before you reach it rather than after.

Before you book
Common questions
Am I eligible?
Eligibility depends on your measurements, including BMI, your medical history, related health conditions, the medicines you take and a full clinical assessment.
Will I definitely be prescribed medication?
No. A prescription is never guaranteed. Many patients on the programme are supported without medication.
What if medication is not appropriate for me?
The programme continues without it. Assessment, the written plan, monthly review and maintenance planning are the programme; medication is one option within it, not the thing you are paying for.
How long does a programme last?
Usually several months to a year of active programme, followed by a maintenance phase. It depends on your starting point and how you respond.
What happens when I stop?
This is planned from the start. Weight regain after stopping is common, so the maintenance phase forms part of the programme.
What if I am not making progress?
That is what the monthly review is for. The plan is adjusted, and if the programme is not working for you Kim will say so directly and discuss whether continuing is the right decision. You will not be quietly kept on it.
Will I be weighed at every appointment?
Measurements are taken at review because they inform the clinical decisions. If being weighed is difficult for you, say so at assessment and it can be handled differently, including recording measurements without showing you the number.
Can I do the programme online?
Largely, yes. Assessment and monthly reviews can be carried out by secure video consultation, although some measurements are more reliable in person.
Is it available on the NHS?
NHS weight management support is available in some circumstances, subject to eligibility and local availability, usually through your GP. If you may be eligible, Kim will tell you.
Do I need blood tests?
Sometimes, depending on your history and what is being considered. Kim will tell you at assessment and explain what is being checked.
Will I see the same clinician each month?
Yes. Every assessment and review is carried out by Kim personally.
Do I have to commit to a package?
Not at this clinic. There are no packages and no advance commitment. You will be told the full expected cost before you start.
Can I be on the programme while I am in Spain?
You can be assessed and reviewed by video wherever you are, but medication is dispensed by our UK pharmacy partner to UK addresses only, so a programme that depends on it cannot run while you are in Spain. Kim will tell you at the outset if this affects your plan.
Next step
Start with a clinical assessment.
The assessment establishes whether the programme is appropriate for you. Some patients are told that it is not, and are told why.
